About integrative care
An integrative pediatrician combines the best of conventional medicine with evidence-informed approaches like functional medicine, nutrition, gut health, and lifestyle support. At GAIP, we look at the whole child — not just the symptoms — to find root-cause answers and create truly personalized care plans.
We offer longer appointments (60-minute new patient visits, 45-minute well exams), a self-pay model that removes insurance restrictions, and a root-cause approach that goes beyond "watch and wait." We also offer services like IV therapies, advanced lab testing, newborn house calls, and care for complex conditions many other practices aren't equipped to handle.
Absolutely! We provide comprehensive general pediatric care including well-child visits, sick visits, newborn care, sports physicals, developmental monitoring, and more. We'd love to be your child's medical home for both routine and specialty care.
Conditions we support
Yes — research increasingly links gut health to brain function, mood, immunity, and development. We evaluate the gut-brain connection as part of our functional medicine work, and often find that supporting digestive health has meaningful positive effects on behavior, focus, and overall wellbeing.
Yes. We work with many children navigating neurodevelopmental differences including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges. Our approach looks at underlying contributors — such as nutritional deficiencies, gut health, immune function, and inflammation — to help children thrive alongside any conventional therapies they may be receiving.
Yes. Lyme disease is one of our specialty areas. Diagnosing Lyme — especially chronic or late-stage presentations — can be complex, and many families feel unheard by conventional medicine. We take tick-borne illness seriously, use comprehensive testing, and offer integrative treatment approaches that address both the infection and the immune response. If your child has unexplained fatigue, joint pain, neurological symptoms, or a history of tick exposure, we encourage you to reach out.
Sudden onset of these symptoms — especially following a strep or viral infection — may indicate PANS or PANDAS, a neuroimmune condition. We are experienced in evaluating and supporting children with PANS/PANDAS and can help your family navigate this often confusing diagnosis.
Visits & scheduling
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly to schedule. As a self-pay practice, we don't require insurance authorization — which means no gatekeeping, no wait lists tied to insurance networks, and more flexibility for your family.
It depends on your child's needs. For general wellness, we follow standard well-child visit schedules. For functional medicine or complex care, we typically recommend more frequent follow-ups early on, then space visits out as your child stabilizes and improves. Your provider will guide you on what's right for your child.
Lab testing
Not necessarily for every visit. For functional medicine consults, we often recommend advanced lab testing to get a clearer picture of what's driving your child's symptoms. These may include gut microbiome analysis, Organic Acid Testing, food sensitivity panels, nutritional panels, or immune markers. We explain every test we recommend and why.
Specialty testing is usually out-of-pocket, with typical costs ranging from $400 to $2,000 depending on the test. Our team will review all options and associated costs with you before ordering any labs, so there are no surprises. We're committed to making sure you feel informed and comfortable every step of the way.
Office policies
We require a minimum of 2 days' notice for cancellations of both new-patient and existing-patient visits. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required for all new patients at the time of scheduling. No-shows and late cancellations will be subject to a charge. We also require that all new patients complete and return their new patient paperwork no later than 3 days prior to their appointment. Because your visit time is fully reserved for your family, early notice helps us accommodate other families who are waiting for care.
For any life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. For urgent but non-emergency concerns during or after office hours, contact our office by phone. Please do not use the patient portal or contact form for urgent matters. When our office is closed, local families with urgent medical concerns are encouraged to contact the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Nurse Advice Line at 404-785-KIDS or visit a nearby urgent care center. Please follow up with our office once we reopen so we can continue your child's care.
Telehealth
Yes! We offer 30-minute telemedicine visits for established patients. These are great for follow-ups, lab reviews, and discussing ongoing concerns without the need to travel to our office.
We do work with some families nationwide. If you are located outside of Georgia and would like to explore whether telehealth consultations are an option for your child, please contact our office directly and we'll be happy to discuss what's possible.
