_Who We Are

Meet Your Child’s Care Team

At GAIP, we help parents create a meaningful, personalized plan for their child and their family. We use an integrative and functional medicine approach, when appropriate, to build collaborative care plans that go beyond the surface. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all protocols. Every child is unique, and their care should reflect that. We encourage parents to bring their questions, research, and insights—whether it’s something you’ve read, heard, or simply feel in your gut. We believe in open, honest dialogue because sometimes the smallest detail can lead to meaningful answers.

We look forward to meeting your family and walking alongside you on your child’s healing journey.

DR. MAIA GAITHER

Medical Director | Owner | Special Needs Mom

Dr. Maia Gaither brings over 25 years of pediatric experience, caring for children and young adults with both routine and complex needs, including those with special needs up to age 30. As a special needs mom herself, she understands what it’s like when your instinct tells you something isn’t right—even when you’re told to “wait and see” or that everything looks normal.

She completed her medical training at Howard University and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and has served on staff at Cedars-Sinai and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Dr. Gaither blends traditional pediatrics with a thoughtful, root-cause approach. She is an active member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS), and has participated as a study physician in microbiome research.

Her goal is simple: to listen carefully, think deeply, and help each child feel and function better.

She is also a dedicated mother of two teenage children, whom she homeschooled for over a decade.

Amy Westmoreland, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC

Operations Manager | Boarded-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner | Special Needs Mom

Amy Westmorland, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, is a double board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University in 2012.

Amy brings a strong clinical foundation with extensive experience in both adult and pediatric emergency and trauma care. Her background allows her to recognize complex presentations quickly and approach care with both skill and calm confidence.

Her path into integrative and functional pediatrics became deeply personal in 2017 when her son, Brock, was diagnosed on the autism spectrum. That moment shifted everything.

What began as a mother’s search for answers became a professional calling.

Since then, Amy has dedicated countless hours to studying and applying functional medicine approaches to support children with autism, PANS, PANDAS, and related comorbidities. She has worked alongside leading experts in the field and continues to stay at the forefront of emerging research.

Amy has also collaborated with Dr. James Adams and serves as a study coordinator for the second clinical trial of Microbiota Transfer Therapy (MTT) in children with autism.

In addition to patient care, Amy leads operations at Greater Atlanta Integrative Pediatrics, helping guide the practice’s mission of whole-child, root-cause care. She is known for her compassionate, unhurried approach—treating every child and family with the same level of care she would want for her own.
